Day Five

 Visible

Interestingly enough the focus for today was the kaupapa of  making teaching and learning visible.

The kupu kitea could be applied because not only would something be visible, but it would be found.

If teaching and learning can be found, easily accessible, expectations known and work exposed; all this could reduce that age old frustration of failure.

The digital tools presented today were the use of multi modal (sheets), sites, blog labels and the teacher dashboard.

Most the time felt like it was taken on creating a google site, using a multi modal approach (giving the learner many different ways to access the learning. With the expectation that hopefully one will resonate with them) on a preselected topic, nominated by the facilitation team. The resource sheet that these topics were chosen from was intensive and I was impressed with the collegial collective effort that was needed to compose it.

However, I would rather have been asked to find resources prior to the session. Then demonstrate or  practise creating a google site using these resources so that I could have ended this day with something ready to meet the need of student/s in my class and tick the DFI box at the same time.

In hindsight the tasks for today would have been most useful if I had known this stuff at the start of March 2020.

  1. Kia ora Tania,
Isn't hindsight a great thing! Congratulations on being part of the DFI though and should it be necessary again for distance learning, I'm sure you'll have your learners well-versed in daily use of your class site so that the move to distance learning would be a much more simple process. I do hope that this week feels more purposeful, with your creation of your own site? Thank you for a great reflection,
    Kia haumaru te noho,
